'Carried knife to cause fear not harm'Īndrew Turton, mitigating circumstances for Wood, stated that he is ‘extremely remorseful for his actions’ and ‘carried the knife not to cause harm but to cause fear’. Wood assaulted the shop worker by punching him in the face and smashing his glasses before stealing protein powder. In 2020 he was jailed for three years after an early-morning raid at the BP garage, on Durham Road, Stockton. He has 25 convictions from 60 offences including two previous robberies. Wood is identified from CCTV footage outside his address on Ingleton Road. Wood then discarded the vehicle on Stewart Road which is later recovered by Cleveland Police. Seconds later he smashed into a parked car before saying: “Chelsea are you alright?”.Īs he is driving down the road, crossing roundabouts, he says again: “Chelsea are you alright” and Wyatt responds: “yeah”. Wood then got into the driver’s seat and made off at speed. In the video, Wood can then be heard saying to Wyatt: “There will be money in this car, guaranteed there will be.” “Give me all your money now.” The screaming driver flees the car and leaves £370 in his vehicle. Wood can be heard saying: “Get out the car and there won’t be no problem. Video footage of the terrifying incident was played in court. Wood replied: “Yeah, two seconds”, before producing a knife. The taxi driver asked for the £19 fare upfront before setting off. The Skoda driver parked up on Ingleton Road, Hardwick, Stockton, and picked up Wood and Wyatt. Prosecutor Paul Abrahams stated that the victim in the case is a taxi driver who arrived at a job.
